AFROSCOPE

SEEING BEYOND OUR FEARS

Can you see beyond your fears?
Or do you cry beyond your tears?
Blood-filled ducts betraying your fright?
Panicked by the yet-to-be; the unknown’s might?

Fighting future,
Abandoning presence,
Deserting essence,
Crippling penance.

Alarm at the thought, ‘what next?’
A made-up mental unrest
A dwelling in painful prose
A fear of return to now

Rejecting surrender—
Skipping life’s greatest lesson
Missing its biggest blessing
How will the pain ever lessen ?

Listen!

Do you hear the silence now?
Embrace that space
Where no chatter exists
Where fear can leave no trace
